CUDOS TO EC
Ignace - English River 8:29 PM EDT Monday 26 July 2010 Tornado warning for Ignace - English River continued Weather radar at 8:20 PM EDT indicated a severe thunderstorm exhibiting significant rotation. There is the real threat of a brief tornado or two with this storm which is about 50 km east-southeast of Dryden. Motion is southeast around 30 km/h. This is a warning that severe thunderstorms with tornadoes are imminent or occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions. Take immediate safety precautions. Very warm and relatively humid air across Northwestern Ontario is triggering scattered thunderstorm activity across the region. Conditions are favourable for some of these storms to become severe with isolated tornadoes, large hail of 3 centimetres and strong damaging wind gusts to 90 km/h. |

Every major city in Canada is covered by doppler radar. You can see that almost all of southern Canada is covered here: http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/radar/index_e.html

13 tornado warnings were issued yesterday in Saskatchewan. The warnings are getting real nice! Now include public storm report lines.
Code:
==DISCUSSION== ENVIRONMENT CANADA METEOROLOGISTS ARE TRACKING A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM CAPABLE OF PRODUCING A TORNADO. THIS SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WILL AFFECT THE CYPRESS HILLS SOUTH OF GULL LAKE. AT 6:40 PM CST DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED THAT THIS SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WAS LOCATED ABOUT 15 KILOMETRES SOUTHEAST OF TOMPKINS AND WAS MOVING TOWARD THE SOUTHEAST AT 50 KM/H. IN ADDITION TO THE POSSIBLE TORNADO, THIS SEVERE THUNDERSTORM IS CAPABLE OF PRODUCING HAIL TO THE SIZE OF BASEBALLS. WHEN A TORNADO WARNING IS ISSUED BASED ON DOPPLER RADAR, IT MEANS THAT STRONG ROTATION HAS BEEN DETECTED IN THE STORM. A TORNADO MAY ALREADY BE ON THE GROUND, OR IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP SHORTLY. TO REPORT SEVERE WEATHER, AND ONLY WHEN IT IS SAFE TO DO SO, CALL TOLL-FREE 1-800-239-0484.

Ottawa North - Kanata - Orléans
9:12 PM EDT Wednesday 2 August 2006 Tornado warning for Ottawa North - Kanata - Orléans upgraded from severe thunderstorm warning A cluster of supercells are located in the above noted regions. Doppler radar reveals strong tornadic signatures on each of these thunderstorms. One of the storms with possible tornado is moving towards the City of Ottawa and is expected there near 9:30. I dug that up from 2006 |
