Finally home to get a chance to post this, but there was a huge warned (i use the term loosely because they were way late on simcoe counties warning) system that moved through Grey Bruce and Simcoe County earlier today.

Torrential downpours, hail, wind, non-stop lightning for about an hour and a half. Once everything was said and done, many power outages and damage reports started coming in from the Collingwood area.

Power still out in parts of midland and around the county.
Co-worker reported his in-laws and neighbors house in Collingwood area were hit by what they described as a tornado, lots of damage on their properties.

Still waiting on any news from Elmvale and area, it looked like the brunt of precipitation and a decent amount of wind passed over there after hitting collingwood.

A line of thunderstorms affected areas near Georgian Bay around 4 PM 
EDT. Several reports of wind damage from the Collingwood and Stayner 
areas were received. Uprooted trees, a removed roof and flipped 
trailers were reported. 

Environment Canada will be sending a damage survey team to the area 
Tuesday.

Discussion.

A storm damage team has confirmed a tornado touched down near 
Stayner, Ontario on Monday afternoon around 4 PM, resulting in 
damage that included uprooted trees and an overturned trailer. The 
strength of the tornado (EF scale) is still to be determined. 

Damage from other communities in the area including Collingwood, 
where a roof was removed from an industrial building, is still being 
investigated. 

Ontario has had 11 tornadoes so far this year. Ontario averages 12 
tornadoes per year in a season that typically runs from late April 
until October.

EC decided that it was an EF-1 that hit Stayner and confirmed that it was a downburst that hit Collingwood.

strength of the tornado was determined to be EF-1 on the Enhanced
Fujita scale.

Damage from other communities in the area including Collingwood

to be the result of a downburst.
