McMaster University in Hamilton has 4 Federal Signal Modulators. These are sounded for a variety of reasons...one I believe is Severe Weather, I could be wrong though.

Fantastic news! This could lead to London city officials developing a tornado siren plan in the future. The article states the siren was heard for 8 kilometres or 5 miles. That doesn't sound right, no siren can be heard that far away. 1-2 miles at best with clear sunny skies with as much as 6+ miles on cold winter nights.
