Looking pretty nice today. Lots of sun, and a cold front sweeping through today. The wind is coming from the southEAST right now, unusual, but still a south wind. Anyone know what the CAPE is and if there's any sheer?

CAPE is looking a bit low for major development around 4pm 750-1250 across Ontario. However it is aided by decent shear 40-50kts in the 1-8km range. that should mix well as the low pressure system sweeps across from the south and give us a band of decent t-storms. Storm helicity looks to be a factor with these as well which always lends a slight increase in the possibility or tornadic development however still less than the 2% threshold that the spc forcasts.

    Bruce Peninsula - Sauble Beach - Tobermory

At 3:10 p.m. EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing very strong wind gusts, pea to dime size hail and heavy rain.

A line of severe thunderstorms is moving northeast at 50 km/h across northern Lake Huron and heading towards the Bruce Peninsula. Strong wind gusts to 90 km/h are possible with this line of thunderstorms.

Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!

Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.

The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.

Between Stratford and Woodstock has some interesting looking wind patterns

I saw that. it looks just like shear along the gust front but the indentation near Stratford makes me think there might be more to it. as it moves into the regions of higher storm helicity to the east it might get exciting.

Also should mention the storm front that passed over tobermory has a huge bow echo with near 64kt front winds! its also pinching back on its self at the northern tip. i know thats way north of here, but its looking very violent and thought i should mention it. the tip of the echo is rotating around a point south of killarney and has a differential on radar of 60-70kts. i think that has some high probability of producing a tornado. no tornado warning...yet lol

Severe tstorm watch here in Niagara. Temps have dropped from 28C down to about 10C. Skies were dark over the lake but no organization to the clouds.

Storms have wrapped here for the most part. Wind was less than expected, but we did get a good bit of pea to marble sized hail that went on for a good five minutes. It was fun watching it come in off of Georgian Bay.

I heard news from my brother who is a volunteer firefighter near Sudbury, the system that went through there hit hard. Kept his crew busy with power pole fires and a huge grass fire started by lightning. There were also two unconfirmed reports of tornadoes near conistion and wanipitae.

A line of thunderstorms raced east across Southern and Northeastern 
Ontario Thursday. They brought strong winds, heavy downpours and 
frequent lightning to many areas, along with pea to marble sized 
hail in a few localities. 

Reports of strong winds and thunderstorm related damage are listed 
below. 

Location and Report 

London Airport 81 km/h wind gust near 3.15 PM Thursday. 

In Perth County 3.30 to 4.00 PM Thursday there were several reports 
of damage as follows: 

Sebringville area trees down. 
Milverton area barn damaged. 
South of Stratford trees and hydro poles down. 

Sudbury Airport 100 km/h wind gust near 4.48 PM Thursday. 

Sudbury Area trees and power lines down. Power outages affecting 
over 20000 customers. A camper van was flipped on its side in 
Chelmsford.
