This is what i watched for a while from my backyard. Cumulous were growing and knuckling out into nice anvils. These storms were reaching 50,00' and according to grl3 containing 1"+ hail, some were showing signs of rotation. No severe weather was reported in NY state where they came ashore. It lasted approx 3 hours.

Thanks for the vids. Nice to see this cell from a different angle. We managed to get really close to this storm, and for a time it appear to show slight rotation and nice structure with some striations. VIL hit over 60 around the time we were on it.
As it passed us we took tons of video and stills of what looks like that exact part of the storm from behind; great cloud-cloud lighting and some big CG strikes as well. I will share my video as well at some point once edited etc. Last edited by harrisale; 07-18-2012 at 12:03 PM. |
