Oh, wow! June-July is just about the peak of our tornado/severe thunderstorm season in southern Ontario, hopefully you'll get a chance to catch some action!

I don't own a vehicle, can't afford gas/insurance with what I make, so chasing isn't an option for me. But, hopefully you can find some other chasers to team up with. Serge, on Facebook look up the group 'Southern Ontario Storm Chasers'. There are dozens of local chasers there. Meet and greet!

Yes, I hope I will catch some action

I entered in the group, and I contacted one of the storm chaser (of Toronto). I hope he will reply me. We have some stroms yesterday (60mm in an hour!), but it was difficult to have photos (it was in the afternoon and because of the rain...) :

I saw in FaceBook and in your website that you had a tornado in Ontario !

Good bye

Yes, an F1 tornado in Essex County. Still 35km of damage to confirm as a tornado. Here Serge, this is our weather services website http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/canada_e.html you can choose to read it in french if you like, the button is on the top left 'francais'.

For 'Warnings' click on Southern Ontario. That's us. Hold your mouse cursor over any zone on the map and the name will pop up. You'll be in 'Niagara' in southern Ontario, more specifically(in the event of a warning) 'St. Catherines - Grimsby - Northern Niagara Region'.

Thank you for the link . I have just see the GFS for North America, and we will have some storm (maybe) at the end of the week.

I arrive in St Catharines the 17th. If I catch some lightening during my internship, I will display the photos on this website.

I hope I will find a bike. If I find, I will go to the lake and take some photos (I haven't got photos with the sea/a lake and lightening).

Good morning !

Ciao

Yup, things are looking hopeful for some severe weather this weekend across the Great Lakes just after you arrive.

For a bike, you probably should spend a Saturday looking for garage sales, you can find bikes cheap at one, that or find a thrift store. Bike's are very expensive, but I guess you could find an inexpensive one at Canadian Tire or Wal-Mart for around $100. (Don't know how much that is in Euro, about... $150, maybe?)

The Euro is worth like 2X more than the $Cdn, so $100 would be about $50 Euro (I'm too lazy to go check current exchange rates, hehe)

Oops, it's not worth that much more... 'just checked:

Live rates at 2010.06.15 19:25:00 UTC
1.00 EUR = 1.26600 CAD

Personally I'd never buy anything from Chinese Tire or Walmart due to political reasons (they destroy smaller locally-owned stores and buy all-import products from China). But if you really must.... : http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/brows...ccessories.jsp

Thank you for your messages

I hope I have understand everythng you said. Don't you know a compagny where I can rent a bike (like in France) ? For an hour, a day, a week etc ... ? I will see for the bike during the Week End.

For the weather, it's going to be hot at the end of the week (30°C ...), for France it's hot. In 2003, when the temperature reached 35 - 40°C 1 week long, 36000 people died ...

I can't wait to arrive !

Salut !
