Warnings 5:28 PM EDT Monday 18 May 2015 Tornado warning in effect for: Bancroft - Hastings Highlands - Denbigh Kaladar - Bannockburn - Bon Echo Park Updated or ended by 6:58 p.m. EDT. At 5:28 p.m. EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm that is possibly producing a tornado. Damaging winds, large hail and locally intense rainfall are also possible. Two severe thunderstorms capable of producing tornadoes across moving eastward. The storms are currently 50 km north of Madoc and over Lanark County. This is a dangerous and potentially life-threatening situation. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Go indoors to a room on the lowest floor, away from outside walls and windows, such as a basement, bathroom, stairwell or interior closet. Leave mobile homes, vehicles, tents, trailers and other temporary or free-standing shelter, and move to a strong building if you can. As a last resort, lie in a low spot and protect your head from flying debris. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management recommends that you take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Scattered thunderstorms are moving northeastward toward or through portions of the above regions. A few of these storms may be capable of producing damaging winds. The threat for severe thunderstorms will end this evening. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Hail is also possible. Locally heavy rain is also possible. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes.
