Ontario tornado statistics - all time
From Ontario Tornado Watch:
Quote:
Just spent two days doing some research on every documented Tornado I could find information for in Ontario's history from 1792 - 2014 and came across some interesting facts!
I've heard many times that July is the peak season for Tornadoes in Ontario but the numbers don't show that, at all.
August comes in first with 67 confirmed Tornadoes. June is 2nd with 37 and July comes in 3rd with 36. :O
Tornado Tuesday's? In 2014 yes but Wednesday comes in first with 40 confirmed Tornadoes, Friday with 32, Thursday with 31 and Tuesday with 30.
94% of documented Tornadoes happened in the Afternoon or Evening (12pm - 11pm). Afternoon = 56% and Evening = 37%.
97% of documented Tornadoes were moving in an easterly direction with northeast on top at 43%.
And from the data we have, there have been 81 confirmed fatalities and approximately 875 injuries from Tornadoes in Ontario.
Here's looking forward to a safe 2015 Tornado season!
For all the stats I calculated, here's an image:
