today is a very good day for storms, but tomorrow that's when the rich thunderstorms shall hit lol :P

Seems like those cells that were moving out over lake Huron from Michigan earlier have mostly started fizzling out, real shame . Like tice said, conditions were likely to strengthen those storms. Oh well, but I guess we have tomorrow, that's when the real storms will hit.

yeah, they do look dissapointing now, but convection was capped over the water where its not on land because of the moisture content, i still have a shred of hope that they will pick up again as they cross ontario, but not enough to chase after them tonight. I'm preparing my gear for tommorow though. i plan to finish work at 2:30, i hope thats early enough to stay in the game *fingers crossed*

At 8:20 pm DT, meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing large hail, damaging winds and heavy downpours.

Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches.

Strong wind gusts and hail can damage property and cause injuries. Local downpours can cause flash floods.

Go indoors and move away from windows and skylights. Avoid areas of the building that could be affected by falling debris such as tree limbs. Stay on the lower floor of your home or building and if the storm is particularly severe go to the basement.

Avoid driving through water on roads. Even shallow fast moving water across a road can sweep a vehicle away.

Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes.

In Canada, lightning kills up to 10 people every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors.

Potential for severe thunderstorms tonight.

This is an alert to the potential development of severe thunderstorms with large hail, damaging winds or heavy rainfall..Monitor weather conditions and listen for updated bulletins.

Thunderstorms have developed over northwestern and Northeastern Ontario along a warm front. These thunderstorms have the potential to become severe with the main threats being large hail, damaging winds and heavy rain. An isolated tornado is also possible.

Severe thunderstorm warning for: Manitoulin Island - Espanola - Killarney - Blind River - Thessalon - Greater Sudbury and vicinity - Elliot Lake - Ranger Lake - Sault Ste. Marie - St. Joseph Island - Searchmont - Montreal River Harbour - Batchawana Bay

At 10:00 PM EDT, meteorologists are tracking areas of strong to severe thunderstorms, one extending from Upper Michigan to near New Liskeard and another over Lake Superior, both moving east southeast at 60 km/h. Some of the thunderstorms are capable of producing hail greater than 2 cm in diameter and damaging winds to 90 km/h. Locally heavy downpours are also a threat. An isoalted tornado is also possible. For the Sudbury region, the severe thunderstorms are expected to stay southwest of the City of Sudbury affecting areas closer to Espanola.
