Upsala - Raith - Atikokan - Shebandowan - Quetico Park issued

Thunderstorms may become severe this evening.

This is an alert to the potential development of severe thunderstorms with large hail, damaging winds or heavy rainfall..Monitor weather conditions and listen for updated bulletins.

A few thunderstorms developing over the regions may become severe due to hail potentially over 2 cm in diameter and wind gusts to 90 km/h this evening. Heavy downpours are likely in the storms this evening.

No. We live in a very unique part of Canada where storm season never really ends. Same with the Ohio/Tennessee/Mississippi Valleys and the Southeast USA. We've had tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in the depths of Winter. Few and far between this far north for an action-packed Winter severe storm outbreak. But historically, it has happened many times over the last 100 or more years of records. So, never let your guard down! All it takes is the right setup.

Next week is looking to be our next target for a shot of thunderstorm activity.

Speaking of Winter-time events... this is, for many of us, our only recent event.

A DYNAMIC LINE OF STRONG TO SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IS MOVING ACROSS
SOUTHEAST LOWER MICHIGAN AND IS FORECAST TO REACH THE WINDSOR TO
SARNIA CORRIDOR TOWARDS MIDNIGHT. THE MAIN THREAT IS STRONG DAMAGING
WIND GUSTS OVER 90 KM/H AND LOCAL LARGE HAIL OF 2 CENTIMETRES.
ISOLATED TORNADOES ARE ALSO POSSIBLE..THUS A TORNADO WATCH HAS BEEN
ISSUED.

THE LINE SHOULD GRADUALLY WEAKEN AS IT MOVES EAST SO THE THREAT
LESSENS EAST OF SARNIA AND WINDSOR.
