Looks like some good chances for storms in eastern Ontario and possibly southern Ontario later in the day. Currently some nice storms rolling through central Ontario with the north shore of Georgian bay and manitoulin area getting hit.
Could see an MCS develop out of some showers around the Keweenaw Peninsula of Upper Michigan, which could drop towards southern Ontario late today.

Severe thunderstorm warning for
Sault Ste. Marie - St. Joseph Island - Searchmont - Montreal River Harbour - Batchawana Bay

At 4:20 PM radar shows local strong wind gusts, in excess of 90 km/h, are likely with a storm now approaching the Sault Ste Marie and Batchawana Bay area.

At 3:30 PM EDT, metorologists are tracking two areas of thunderstorms - one over eastern Lake Superior and one across Manitoulin Island. A few of these storms could contain wind gusts to 90 km/h and hail. Furthermore, the storms are capable of producing torrential downpours with local rainfall amounts up to 50 mm in a hour possible. Where repeat storms occur, local rainfall totals of 50 to 100 mm will be possible by tonight.

Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches.

Strong wind gusts and hail can damage property and cause injuries. Local downpours can cause flash floods.

Go indoors and move away from windows and skylights. Avoid areas of the building that could be affected by falling debris such as tree limbs. Stay on the lower floor of your home or building and if the storm is particularly severe go to the basement.

Avoid driving through water on roads. Even shallow fast moving water across a road can sweep a vehicle away.

In Canada, lightning kills up to 10 people every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors.
