I woke up around 2 a.m. in Pickering to some fantastic lightning.

Looks like our township had a lightning hit & fire this morning.
Just received this news, the place is maybe 5Km from me.

The Eqypt hall was apparently hit by lightning and burned down last night. Nobody was hurt that we know of, thank goodness, but this was the nicest little hall in Georgina and it will be sorely missed while it's out of commission.

The lightning was the main event here with the spectacular shelf cloud in second place. We had very little wind and 16mm of rain from the main line, up to 18mm by this morning. The lightning was some of the most amazing I have ever seen with constant CG's for hours.

Just saw this on the news...

Last night I was on the porch filming some lightning shots and there was a spectacularly bright series of flashes followed by instant exploding thunder that made me jump and book it back inside(got it all on video haha). Turns out the lightning caught fire to a house in my neighbourhood.

Here is the video... I was worried about getting hit but decided I'd finish my smoke before going back in. All of the sudden...this happened. Just checked the house out. It's missing its roof and a contractor company is on scene. This house is literally right behind me. Didn't even hear sirens last night. Lightning is dangerous, folks!

I was up in Muskoka but we get CHCH (Hamilton) news up there and they were showing showing some storm damage in St. Catharines (mostly trees). Of all the times I'm away, the ONE good storm we get all year, and I miss it!!

Enjoy Muskoka! The storm wasn't that good.I wasn't aware of the wind damage.Our large bag filled with plastic recycling sat at the curb overnight and never even moved.It's amazing how local the effects of a line of cells can be.(with tornadoes being the extreme example)
