Default New camera lens

Heading to Varadero (with day excursions to Havana) Tuesday night / Wednesday morning and just picked up a new lens:

Canon EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS

I have the stock 13-55mm that can with my Rebel T2i, and a 50-250mm lens that I purchased when I got the camera. Great lens, but I've found myself having to switch back and forth to get wide shots then to get closeups. I'll loose a bit of zoom but it's not significant. Looks like this lens will make my other two obsolete as it goes all the way back to the widest angle of my stock lens (18mm) then out to 200.

I'll still use my short 13-55mm lens for when I've got it mounted with my suction mount on windows (great for shooting lightning at night - just stick it on a window and use the remote shutter release cable for long exposures).

The drawback that I found out when I got it home, was that it's a 72mm diameter lens, and my others are 58mm. So I had to go back out and get a UV filter and polarizer for it. Couldn't find a store in the city that stocked a lens hood so I'll have to try another local store tomorrow which wasn't open today (Sunday).

Looking forward to bringing back lots of pics from Cuba. I'm being torn between wanting awesome sunny weather, and wanting some dark afternoon skies...

.. although ideally, if I could have found a local place that carries it, I would have liked the Tamron 18-270mm

Default Re: New camera lens

Nice. When you mentioned the tamron 18-270 the original is not as sharp as the canon 18-200 howevre the new tamron 18-270 pzd is just as sharp with the extra 70mm on the log end.
