The possible March 8-9 storm could be perfect timing to try out my new lightning trigger if it arrives by then

For those interested, here's a list of them (click price links to go their page) :
AEO Lightning Strike! II: $137 PatchMaster Lighting Trigger: $119 Stepping Stone Lightning Trigger: $329 Ubertronix Strike Finder: $109 * you'll have to make sure you get the right cable for your camera as the shutter release input port is different on the different types of camera bodies.

Big price difference on one of them, is it worth the extra money over the others I wonder?
Hehe for some reason using these would almost feel like cheating a test haha but it would make lightning photography far less frustrating for a change! |

From the reviews I've heard, the only one I've noticed poor comments about was the Patchmaster. And I haven't heard anything better about the more expensive ones. It's kind of like the saying with cigars: Often, the difference between a $5 cigar and a $25 cigar... is $20. ![]()

Now I'm tempted to try the PatchMaster
![]() Well, if my AEO unit doesn't perform well, I'll order the PatchMaster and put them up head-to-head and to a review ![]()

Wow been a while since I've been on! Still trying to find all the place links and ID's I used to have before I blowed up my last PC :/ Maybe I should take backups.
Anyway about to pull the trigger (pun intended) on an AEO lightning trigger from B&H http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...Micro_3_0.html How are you finding yours and have you been able to find the odd 1/2AA 3.6v lithium batteries it is supposed to take ? |

But I bought a neutral density filter, so I can do long exposures during the day now anyway (over a minute in bright sunshine). But I'm sure that ONE chance will eventually show up for me to use it ![]()

Yes!
I also bought a Lee BigStopper 10 stop ND filter, easily gets your exposures over the minute range! I wonder if the amount of storms is somehow inversely proportional to the amount of new equipment acquired. ![]() |
