July 29 Ottawa/Gatineau - confirmed EF0

Hey guys! Havent posted in a bit. Just been so busy but also have been trying to get out as much as I can and track a few storms here and there... Driving from work yesterday I could see that a cell was starting to develop near Aylmer, QC So I headed that way and tracked it all the way to my house in Gatineau. It wasnt a warned cell but it did produce fairly high winds, lots of lightning as well as pea sized to marble sized hail in abundance!! Even caught a crappy picture of a wall cloud with weak rotation to it.. Nothing crazy but good enough for a "suprise" chase.

Heres a few pics. PS: The hail had already started melting when I took the photos.

Looks like that funnel actually did touch down in Ottawa's east end. It's only rated an EF-0 and took out a few trees on the course, which should make it more playable and forgiving!

Tenth tornado of the season confirmed in Ontario.

Based upon video evidence and a damage inspection in the Ottawa area,
Environment Canada has confirmed the occurrence of the 10th tornado
of the season in Ontario. Near 5 PM on Monday July 29, a funnel cloud
was observed in the blair road area of Ottawa. As the storm moved
across the pine view golf course, intermittent tree damage along a
100 metre wide track occurred. As a result of the damage
investigation the event is being classified as a low end enhanced
Fujita scale (ef-0) tornado with maximum wind speeds at the ground
between 90 and 110 km/h.

The enhanced Fujita scale or ef-scale is divided into six categories
with ef-0 being the weakest and ef-5 being the strongest. On average,
12 tornadoes are verified each year in Ontario during a season that
runs from late April until early October.
