REGION ISSUED BY ENVIRONMENT CANADA TORONTO AT 1:29 AM EDT SATURDAY
3 APRIL 2010.

UNSEASONAL WARM SPELL BRINGS RECORD SHATTERING HEAT.

TEMPERATURES SOARED INTO THE MID TO HIGH TWENTIES FRIDAY AS
UNSEASONABLY WARM AIR FROM THE SOUTH BLANKETED MOST OF ONTARIO
FROM THE LOWER GREAT LAKES TO WELL NORTH OF TIMMINS. SOME RECORDS
BROKE THEIR PREVIOUS VALUES BY AN IMPRESSIVE MARGIN TOO. FOR
INSTANCE OTTAWA SHATTERED THEIR 1946 RECORD BY 12 DEGREES.

THE NORMAL MAXIMUM TEMPERATURES FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR RANGE FROM
PLUS 11 IN WINDSOR TO PLUS 9 IN TORONTO AND PLUS 7 IN OTTAWA.

MORE RECORDS WILL TUMBLE TODAY AHEAD OF A COLD FRONT THAT WILL SWEEP
THROUGH THE REGION THIS EVENING. THE PASSAGE OF THE COLD FRONT WILL
LOWER MAXIMUM TEMPERATURES A LITTLE ON SUNDAY. BUT THEY ARE STILL
EXPECTED TO BE WELL ABOVE SEASONAL WITH READINGS IN THE UPPER TEENS
OR CLOSE TO 20 DEGREES.

DUNNVILLE - CALEDONIA - HALDIMAND

MORE RECORD-BREAKING HEAT TODAY...BUT STRONG WINDS THIS EVENING.

ANOTHER BATCH OF TEMPERATURE RECORDS ARE FORECAST TO TUMBLE TODAY ON
THIS FINAL DAY OF THE CURRENT WARM SPELL. A COLD FRONT WILL RACE
TOWARDS SOUTHERN ONTARIO LATER TODAY FROM JUST SOUTHWEST OF THE
GREAT LAKES. A FEW SHOWERS WILL HERALD ITS ARRIVAL IN THE SOUTHWEST
AS WELL AS MUCH STRONGER SOUTHWESTERLY WINDS. A ONE OR TWO HOUR
PERIOD OF QUITE STRONG WINDS ARE LIKELY ALONG THE FRONT WITH GUSTS
IN THE ORDER OF 70 OR 80 KM/H IN MANY AREAS. SOME BRIEF WARNING
CRITERIA WIND GUSTS TO 90 KM/H ARE ALSO POSSIBLE IN THE SOUTHWEST
FROM LAKE ERIE TO SOUTHERN LAKE HURON. A WIND WARNING MAY BE ISSUED
LATER TODAY IF THESE STRONGEST WINDS ARE MORE LIKELY TO MATERIALIZE.

THE WINDS WILL EASE LATER TONIGHT.
