Default Open chit-chat thread - no weather talk :)

'Just creating a thread here for general chit-chat. Doesn't have to be weather related.

Temps here in St. Catharines have risen. It was in the negatives yesterday, I think today is supposed to be around +1, and going up to +5 throughout the week. No snow left on the flat ground anymore. Just some drifts in corners and whatnot.

The weather's been dull and dreary in England lately. We had a lot of rain starting about a week before Christmas and leading up to New Year's Eve. Since then, the "tap" seems to have finally shut off, but we still have a lot of cloud. Highs of around 10 C lately and lows only a few degrees lower, so it's been mild and spring-like temperature-wise. It's supposed to get a bit colder later in the week.

Wintry Weather on the Way??? KBUF has some promising signs of real winter weather in long range discussion, mid next week. Could really crank up the lake snow machine.

Since I posted, it has indeed gotten a lot colder here in England. Highs are only a degree or two above 0 C, with sub-zero nightly lows. I believe later in the week and possibly into next week we could be seeing sub-zero highs. I *vastly* prefer days like today - cold (or at least chilly) but clear and sunny - to the mild, cloudy, misty murkiness we had before. It's a bright, beautiful day out there for a change.

There's talk of snow possible tonight, but as usual in the UK the snow risk is very marginal and it could end up falling as rain instead. It's always a matter of great debate. We'll see!

According to EC forecast, temp is going to drop back down to around 0C tomorrow. It was up around 10+ today. Rain though.

Anyone planning on adding any new gear for the upcoming storm season?

I was looking at the GoPro Hero video cameras when they were on sale (but out of stock) around Boxing Day, but money is tight. 'Thought it would be neat to strap on to the front or roof of the car while entering a storm and getting that 'right in your face' perspective. But then again, the last few years the storm seasons have been pretty week in this area.

A lot is working...there are a lot of bugs and broken links. EC warning map is made ever 2 minutes with colour coded warnings...lost of other great stuff as well.
