WOW!
Just experienced thundersnow for the first time! Incredible. Figured the winds would be solid so I decided to head out to a good place to watch. Was raining at the time. All of the sudden I see a few flakes in the headlights. Then instantly it changed to a massive wall of snow/graupel mix! Car thermometer showed a 4 degree C drop in about 30 seconds. Wow! Then parked, headed out and saw lightning and thunder. All the while with some pretty awesome winds, gusting to 60-70 km/h at least. What a night! Here's a radar image of the thundersnow line. I didn't witness any lightning last night, but other people have too. It's been very windy.
If the leaves were on the trees I'm sure some would have blown over throughout the night. 'Still windy now actually. No snow anywhere on the ground though, so I'm happy about that at least ![]()

Golf ball sized hail in Brampton? I'm a bit skeptical...

I believe the hail , saw some, also more disturbing for my wife and I was the locomotive sound....
we have heard that one before a couple of times. and usually there is a mess afterwards... we beat it downstairs right away and could see a massive amount of wind and snow darkening out the exterior lights of our neighbours houses...out of our picture window... It was awesome .....a snow squall in a downburst with lightening/thunder and hail/rain the initial gusts were easily 90 to 100 kms or more we had a plastic 45 gallon barrel sitting upside down at the rear of our house ended up in the front yard... this was around 3:15 am and to the east of lake Simcoe in the Kawartha lakes. definite wild night...just got the internet back on today. I slept right through it, but everyone was talking about it in the morning. Some very loud thunder mixed with strong winds and heavy snow. Sad I missed it... so so sad! The winds overnight also caused a lot of tree damage around here. Huge trees in the park were knocked over, and going to work Sunday morning I saw some tree branches up to 1 foot in diameter on the road.
Can't believe I slept through it!
