Surprised there isn't a thread about this day (today) yet. SPC has us under a slight risk, and there should be tons of humidity. I missed the huge storm in Kitchener on July 19, so I'll take any chance at a big storm.

I thought about it, but like yesterday it needs the perfect balance, I'm seeing a narrow window around 6-8pm that could yeild some potentially exciting storms across the region. high wind shear, low LCL levels and a decent MCape, plus the front, but only for a short window, My guess is if the storms do develop they will be quick to develop but may or may not last depending on how the cold front reacts, I think after 2-3h they might choke out again

It could happen earlier, but it needs a lot of energy to acheive free convection in the early afternoon

Most of Southern and Eastern Ontario now under severe thunderstorm watch

Quote:
Severe thunderstorms possible this afternoon and tonight.

This is an alert to the potential development of severe thunderstorms with large hail, damaging winds or heavy rainfall..Monitor weather conditions and listen for updated bulletins.

Warm and humid mid-summer conditions are in place over the regions and thunderstorms are expected to develop early this afternoon or this evening due to an approaching cold front. There is the potential for heavy downpours with these storms giving rainfall amounts in the 50 to 80 millimetre range in an hour or two. There is also the possibility of some locations receiving repeated thunderstorms and locally higher amounts. Severe thunderstorms this afternoon or tonight may also produce damaging winds in excess of 90 km/h and hail is also a possibility.

Wait so it was the first cell I saw NW of London that got the Tornado Warning?

I was on the south side of that one. The motion were nuts on that one but the cell seemed messy in person. Was getting off work early had no camera, though I did manage to grab it in time for the second cell that swung through.
