Default Minot ND to become lake

Sad story coming out of North Dakota regarding the flooding. 10,000+ have been evacuated in the city of 40,000. I am absolutely shocked and appalled this has not made major network news yet in the US or Canada.
-----------------------------------------------

The City of Minot is preparing to become a partial lake. News of large releases from Lake Darling Dam and more water coming behind it from Canada made Minot leaders come to the realization that the Souris River will overtop their levees and there is nothing they could do about it.

Minot will flood, there is no getting around that now.

Minot is preparing for a crest of 1564.4 feet above sea level next Monday. That is nine feet above the well documented 1969 flood and it is 6 1/2 feet above the all time record set back in 1881.

Update from CBC:

Emergency evacuation sirens have sounded in the North Dakota city of Minot as water from the Souris River begins pouring over some dikes.

About 12,000 Minot residents — a quarter of the city's residents — have been facing a 6 p.m. CT deadline to leave their homes as the river moves closer to swamping the city with the worst flooding it has seen in four decades.
