Caught a couple of storms today. First I caught up to was just southeast of the Burlington bridge just after 3pm. A couple of cg's but not much else by the time I caught up to it. This pic was shot after I turned toward niagara on the qew past the bridge

Then I headed back to the 403 to find a spot to get hit by the main line that passed through Hamilton around 430. Made it to the John Deere dealer just north of the 403 in Hamilton and saw some continuous lightning probably 60-70k wind gusts and sheets of rain. Flukes into a bit of lightning in this shot looking into the line as it approached from the northwest

Here are a few pics, near London there was a cluster of storms that formed to the south of the larger storm to the north as it passed by. Once cell when it was in the early phase of its life grabbed my attention with a wall cloud and scud rising up into it very fast. I couldn't grab a good pic of the wall cloud because of trees and buildings and it fell apart by the time I was in the county side. I also missed the best phases of its life. The flank at one point had those scary inflow fingers reaching to the ground but by the time I stopped to take some pics they were gone .....oh well......... The lightning threat with this storm cell was incredible. Constant barrages of cg's in close proximity of each other.
Most shots were taken east of London, Dark sky has in image in the outlook thread for this day 10 15 min before these pics were taken Here was my view north with the rain core and wall cloud not visible to the right of the image ![]() So I headed out, on the way out of town I snapped this pic, there was pretty much no rotation at all but the upward motions in the flank were really cool to see! I snapped this at a red light ![]() Got closer and the cell had nice structure but looked to be weakening, there was a lowered area of interest getting wrapped up in the rain ![]() I let it pass and as it gets farther away some really cool inflow fingers formed on the rear flank but I thought they would last longer and wasted too much time getting close. There was a lot of cg's now coming out of the core's backside ![]() ![]() ![]() |
