I've got they Hoya NDX400. Very expensive, but gives some stunning shots (images below)

I wonder if the amount of storms is somehow inversely proportional to the amount of new equipment acquired. [/QUOTE]

DEFINITELY. :P

Found this site by Australian storm chaser Michael Bath with lots of his lightning images,
he seems to be favouring the AEO trigger for daytime shot!

I've been to his site many 'a time over the past decade. He takes great lightning shots.

As far as which trigger is best, I imagine they all work on exactly the same mechanism - a light meter photosensor that simply triggers the shutter release. I would imagine they're very basic inside. Hopefully I'll get a chance to try mine out, some year

Went for it, placed the order to B&H for the AEO Photo Lightning Strike! Micro 3.0 Shutter Trigger.
If things go normally that should put an end to the current storms when it arrives in a few days.

Not sure you know about flickriver.

Here is a search for all lightning images tagged as being taken with an AEO lightning trigger uploaded to the Flickr service.
