Photos Fake or real? Volcanic Eruption Meets Lightning Storm

According to this site: http://www.hoax-slayer.com/volcano-l...g-photos.shtml , the photos are genuine.

-------------

Two of nature's most spectacular forces produced an incredible brew in the skies of Chile as a volcanic eruption met a lightning storm.

Absolutely genuine! Volcanic ash and gases contain high levels of whatever causes lightning. I'm no geologist or vulcanologist, but I used to dabble on the subject, almost every eruption of that nature above produces extreme lightning shows.

Even the movie 'Dante's Peak' has a lightning show during the eruption.

Yes the updraft of volcanic eruptions produce lightning the same way updrafts in thunderstorms do.

The part that looks fake is the intensity of the lightning. Granted, the lightning in these photos is caused by a passing thunderstorm, not the volcano. But particularly in image #2, the lightning seems too intense to be coming from a cloud top that high up.

Oh, my mistake.

And yes, the photos are legitimate

Some amazing shots on that page ! The sat. view showing the ash cloud being extended out over just a massive area was really interesting to see.

Contrary to popular belief, the volcanoes of the world actual COOL the atmosphere's temperature (most people believe volcanoes raise the temp.) It's always stated on volcano documentaries that the massive amount of ash they put into the atmosphere on a continual basis, helps reduce the amount of sunlight that gets through to the ground, effectively lowering the overall temperature.

Quote:
Global dimming, a gradual reduction in the amount of global direct irradiance at the Earth's surface, has partially counteracted global warming from 1960 to the present.[51] The main cause of this dimming is aerosols produced by volcanoes and pollutants. These aerosols exert a cooling effect by increasing the reflection of incoming sunlight. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_warming

Its possible as the force of the volcanic eruption is very fast that it can reach the skies in just a minute and the electro magnetic field of thunder storm attracts the heat of the eruption produced by volcano.
