The jury with the inquest into the Goderich tornado has concluded Goderich should install tornado sirens, public officials should carry weather radios, and that Environment Canada needs a major upgrade to how they issue warnings and how those warnings can be accessed via a website upgrade and emergency alert system.

I am happy that common sense prevails. I think many communities should have a warning system, but even they have been compremised in the past. Is ACA from Pelmorex/TWN working yet?
I also believe that cutbacks at EC have hindered the whole department; it needs funding more than ever. I also believe that we need a television campaign at the start and half-way through tornado season; played on ALL channels. I'm thinking along the hard-hitting MADD type commercial; drastic, in your face, brutal. Do you think the goverment would pony up the cash for this, rather than celebrating the War of 1812? ![]()

Opening shot:
Man comes into his home, struggling with the wind and obvious stormy conditions. “Honey…girls…you guys home?” Starts running around, gathering things… Wife comes into shot: “the girls are over at so and so’s house. What’s going on?” Man: “There’s a tornado on its way…the guy on the radio is saying its bad. What’s so and so’s number? “(Grabbing for the phone) Woman, looking shocked…”What …a tornado? They don’t happen here” Crash of a window breaking…power flickers on and off…thunder gets louder… Man: “Get down to the basement…damn phone is dead” Rumbling and other noises get louder as they race for the door “where are the girls?? General panic ensues, as the weather gets worse. At the end, the statement “are you prepared?” That’s just a general idea for a PSA that I believe should be blunt and to the point. I welcome any comments or criticism. Cheers!
