Well, the first set dissipated as they cross L.Ontario to the north of me. There's a nice big bow coming across now though, although I won't be able to stay awake for it to get here Maybe it'll wake me up and I'll set up the camera for some lightning shots

Nice light show last night around 11pm. Luckily I was up late (for me) due to a good book so I was able to watch. Photos coming.

==DISCUSSION==

UPDATED OR ENDED BY 11:40 P.M. EDT.

AT 9:30 P.M. EDT, ENVIRONMENT CANADA METEOROLOGISTS ARE TRACKING
SEVERAL CLUSTERS OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS THAT CAME ASHORE FROM
SOUTHERN LAKE HURON. THEY ARE CAPABLE OF PRODUCING STRONG WIND
GUSTS, TOONIE SIZE HAIL AND TORRENTIAL RAIN IN EXCESS OF 50 MM. THEY
ARE MOVING EASTSOUTHEASTWARDS.

TAKE COVER IMMEDIATELY, IF THREATENING WEATHER APPROACHES. STRONG
WIND GUSTS CAN TOSS LOOSE OBJECTS, DAMAGE WEAK BUILDINGS, BREAK
BRANCHES OFF TREES AND OVERTURN LARGE VEHICLES. REMEMBER, SEVERE
THUNDERSTORMS CAN PRODUCE TORNADOES. GO INDOORS AND MOVE AWAY FROM
WINDOWS AND SKYLIGHTS. AVOID AREAS OF THE BUILDING THAT COULD BE
AFFECTED BY FALLING DEBRIS SUCH AS TREE LIMBS. AVOID DRIVING THROUGH
WATER ON ROADS.

THE OFFICE OF THE FIRE MARSHAL AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT RECOMMENDS
THAT YOU TAKE COVER IMMEDIATELY, IF THREATENING WEATHER APPROACHES.

ENVIRONMENT CANADA METEOROLOGISTS WILL UPDATE ALERTS AS REQUIRED.
PLEASE MONITOR LOCAL MEDIA OR WEATHERADIO. TO REPORT SEVERE WEATHER,

First summary from EC:

Quote:
504
AWCN11 CWTO 031513
WEATHER SUMMARY FOR SOUTHERN ONTARIO AND THE
NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION ISSUED BY ENVIRONMENT CANADA
AT 11:13 A.M. EDT MONDAY 3 AUGUST 2015.

ONE OF THE MOST SIGNIFICANT SEVERE WEATHER OUTBREAKS OF THE
SUMMER OCCURRED ON SUNDAY AUGUST 2 WHEN SEVERAL ROUNDS OF VIOLENT
THUNDERSTORMS CROSSED SOUTHERN ONTARIO. THE TRIGGER WAS A COMBINATION
OF VERY WARM AND HUMID CONDITIONS COUPLED WITH STRONG UPPER LEVEL
WINDS AHEAD OF A COLD FRONT. THE FIRST ROUND OF STORMS RAPIDLY BECAME
ORGANIZED IN THE AFTERNOON AND CAME ASHORE FROM LAKE HURON AND
ACCELERATED SOUTHEASTWARDS TOWARDS LAKE ONTARIO, CAUSING CONSIDERABLE
SWATHS OF STRAIGHT-LINE WIND DAMAGE. THERE MAY HAVE BEEN A BRIEF
TORNADO OR TWO ASSOCIATED WITH THIS FIRST BOUT OF SEVERE STORMS, BUT
THERE WAS NO SERIOUS DAMAGE OR CONFIRMED REPORTS.

THE SECOND MAIN ESPISODE OF STORMS HIT PRIMARILY IN THE EVENING,
AFFECTING MANY OF THE SAME AREA AS THE EARLIER STORMS BUT WITH THE
ADDITION OF ALL OF SOUTHWESTERN ONTARIO. SOME TORNADIC WINDS MAY
HAVE BEEN ASSOCIATED WITH THE EVENING STORMS AS WELL.

MOST OF THE SEVERE WEATHER REPORTS WERE FROM STRAIGHT LINE WINDS,
WITH MANY REPORTS OF HAIL RANGING FROM DIME TO GOLF BALL SIZE. MANY
THOUSANDS OF HYDRO CUSTOMERS WERE WITHOUT POWER DUE TO SPORADIC
SWATHS OF DOWNED TREES ACROSS THE REGION. ONE POTENTIAL TORNADO
REPORT NEAR TEVIOTDALE (SOUTH OF MOUNT FOREST) AROUND 9 P.M. EDT IS
BEING INVESTIGATED BY AN ENVIRONMENT CANADA SURVEY TEAM TODAY. THIS
BULLETIN WILL BE UPDATED AS FURTHER INFORMATION BECOMES AVAILABLE ON
THIS SURVEY AS WELL AS ANY OTHER SIGNIFICANT UPDATED REPORTS.

THE FOLLOWING IS A SUMMARY OF WEATHER EVENT INFORMATION RECEIVED BY
ENVIRONMENT CANADA.

LOCATION EVENT DESCRIPTION

TEVIOTDALE TWO HOMES SIGNIFICANTLY DAMAGED FROM
A POSSIBLE TORNADO AROUND 9 P.M. SEVERAL ONTARIO PROVINCIAL POLICE
CARS DAMAGED AT NEABY O.P.P. DETACHMENT. DOWNED TREES AND POWER
LINES ON NEIGHBOURING CONCESSION ROADS.

WIARTON 78 MM OF RAIN

COVE ISLAND (NEAR TOBERMORY) PEAK WIND 104 KILOMETRES PER HOUR
(12:32 P.M.)

UXBRIDGE PEAK WIND 96 KILOMETRES PER HOUR
(5:26 P.M.)

PEARSON AIRPORT PEAK WIND 94 KILOMETRES PER HOUR
(5:44 P.M.)

OSHAWA AIRPORT PEAK WIND 89 KILOMETRES PER HOUR
(5:45 P.M.)

GRAND BEND ESTIMATED PEAK WIND 110 KILOMETRES PER
HOUR (NEAR 8 P.M.)

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS SUMMARY MAY CONTAIN PRELIMINARY OR UNOFFICIAL
INFORMATION AND DOES NOT CONSTITUTE A COMPLETE OR FINAL REPORT.
