Wind Storm (Apr.28/2011)

[this post will be edited as more information comes in]

* Recorded wind speeds of 124 km/hr (in Niagara) - localized winds were likely higher.

* 2 confirmed deaths in Niagara - Grimsby man killed by flying garage door, St. Catharines man killed when falling tree crushed him in his car (he was taken to hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries a couple days later)

* Skyway Bridge in St. Catharines closed after tractor trailer flipped over from winds.

* Lockview Public School in St. Catharines had large portion of roof blown off - pieces of it found up to 2 blocks away.

* Many buildings had their sidings and/or shingles stripped off, and many were missing entire sections of roof. Sights like this and this were very common.

* Power out to large sections of St. Catharines. Some areas without power for over 3 days.

I'm sending this from my phone as power is out to most of the city (St. Catharines). Went out to get damage shots. What a mess. Street lights out everywhere made for one heck of a drive. Roads congested at every intersection. Lots more to come with pics if/when power is restored.

From my vantage point on the 3rd floor of an office building, I saw a flag pole get blown down. Our 'smoke deck' was closed off today due to a large piece of metal (I was told that it was from an A/C unit) came flying down 6 floors to land on our deck. Thankfully no one was injured. A co-worker was showing me pics of his drive in to work... trees down everywhere. Also a friend messaged me saying that a power line went down right behind her and she felt the vibration of the electricity from inside the car.

Im hoping that I return home to minimal damage... Wondering if I will see Dorothy and Toto on the way home?? lol

My Neighbours fence got messed up. All the posts snaped and my dad had to use anchors to get them back up. Also we had very strong winds with a thunderstorm early this morning then another with some rain arond 1030 that sprayed in my class at school. Also there are some trees down in the city. Power out in stoney creek too

I think you posted a link to something else The photo you linked is a wall with some plaster removed. ( ? ) From your wording I'm guessing you mean to send a link to a gallery of images - the link you sent is an image of a wall. Judging from no damage to stuff around it, no debris on the ground meaning it's probably an old wall that chipped off long ago (probably water damage or just bad workmanship) I'm guessing the image isn't part of the gallery you meant to link

No it had been cleaned up earlier. I was talking to the mall supervisour when i was eating subway and he said that it happend around 11am along with the sign
