Re: Possible Major Winter Storm Tuesday into Wednesday

Sorry forgot to mention those are from Guelph!

This last only about 2-3 hours as soon melting and a bit of wind blew everything down. Looked great while it lasted.

Re: Possible Major Winter Storm Tuesday into Wednesday

Nothing this morning either but an updated special weather statement.

Less than 12 hours from a potentially high impact event and not even a watch???

Re: Possible Major Winter Storm Tuesday into Wednesday

Power outages certainly seems possible. Very wet, heavy snow, and gust potential up to 40kts on this system.

Thinking about 20-25cm for Guelph.

Re: January 29, 2013

Potential certainly exists for some thunder today. Helicity and shear will be off the charts for Ontario over the next 24 hours, if we can get a bit more instability we should be looking at some...

January 20th, 2013 - Thundersnow!

WOW!

Just experienced thundersnow for the first time! Incredible.

Figured the winds would be solid so I decided to head out to a good place to watch. Was raining at the time. All of the sudden...

Re: December 26-27 Winter Storm

Totaled 18cm here in Oakville.

Shot some video last night during the best snow, about 35 dbz over my house. Rates were about 2cm/hr at this point. This probably lasted 40 minutes or so. Nice winds...

Re: December 26-27 Winter Storm

Very true, posted that far too early! Southeast shift seems to be the new consensus, should still get a decent storm, just not the jackpot this time.

Updated clown map:

December 26-27 Winter Storm

Wow! As of posting, this system is starting to look like it has real potential for Southern Ontario to get dumped on!

Whether or not to believe this map 3 days out is up for debate. But I'm...

Re: December 9th-10th - Freezing Rain, Snow and Rain

Guelph, ON getting somewhat nasty. Freezing rain/snow mix right now, solid ground level wind. Stepped outside and was blasted with ice pellets. Ground has a thin layer of ice in some places.

December 9th-10th - Freezing Rain, Snow and Rain

System initially looked quite strong in the models about a week ago, dropping below 990mb. That has significantly weakened but the track remains the same. Sadly we would need the system to be a bit...

Re: Tropical Cyclone Information Statement for Southern Ontario

Indeed you are correct, I should have said MNR not EC.

Re: Tropical Cyclone Information Statement for Southern Ontario

Correct. Those will not be sustained at the surface but I find the 850mb winds are useful for predicting wind gusts if those winds can mix down. And those 70knot 850mb winds over us seem to...

Re: Tropical Cyclone Information Statement for Southern Ontario

Seems as though flooding will be a very real possibility in some areas. Storm rain already up to 3.5 inches (89mm) in some parts Southern Ontario, saturating the ground for when Sandy's rains arrive:...

Re: End of the thunderstorm season?

Was thinking the same thing for Sunday overnight. Too bad instability is so low, we may be seeing some insane helicity values in excess of 900 m2/s2

Re: Monday July 23, 2012

Hey guys. I know its been a slow season so I thought I'd share this video I took from this day. Headed up to Fergus and took this nice timelapse of one of the bigger storms of the day. I believe this...

Friday September 7th, 2012

Just saw this one cell on radar. Looked pretty strong and appeared to be showing a small hook/notch feature for a few radar scans. Given today's shear it seems to make sense. Anyone get on this...

Thursday September 6th Threat

What do you guys think?

NAM shows parts of Southern Ontario CAPE pushing 3000 J/kg, dewpoint in the 65-70 range, shear 30-40 kts in some areas. GFS is not in total agreement though, particularly...

Re: Tue. Sep.4 - Storms today

Rainfall warning was cool. Certainly saw the impacts with flooded streams and paths in the park behind my house.

Re: Thursday, August 16th Threat

Gassed up the car the night before but never made it out the door. Oh well. All part of the game, right?

Still hoping for that supercell.

Re: Thursday, August 16th Threat

Any idea what to make of the system over MI right now? (11:00am)

EDIT: Seems like an advection system ahead of the warm front. How do you think this will affect activity along the cold front later...

Re: Thursday, August 16th Threat

Seems as though tomorrow we may see a system similar to what is moving through MN right now. Although it may appear late in the evening. Hopefully the line will arrive while there's still some...
