Destroyed Barns near Smiths Falls - August 29, 2018

Environment Canada looked into the two barns that were destroyed near Smiths Falls on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 and determined the culprit to be a downburst with estimated winds of up to 170km/h....

EC decided that it was an EF-1 that hit Stayner and confirmed that it was a downburst that hit Collingwood.

6th and 7th Tornadoes of the Year Confirmed

LaSalle was first with an EF1 tornado, which was soon followed by an EF2 that hit Windsor.

Fifth Tornado of the Season Confirmed

Environment Canada confirmed an EF-1 Tornado blew in from Lake Simcoe to Sunset Beach and over to Port Bolster on Saturday, August 13th.

Looks like that funnel actually did touch down in Ottawa's east end. It's only rated an EF-0 and took out a few trees on the course, which should make it more playable and forgiving!

I'll be headed to Toronto this Saturday for the CANWARN training session as well. I've been to a few of the sessions in other towns and have found the best ones are always at the EC headquarters.

The storm was disapointing in Toronto. I was in the north end of the city and beyond some rain, I only heard one decent rumble of thunder. Better than nothing but could have been better.
