June 17 2013, southern Ontario storm potential
 
Storm potentials look good this afternoon for th southern tip of ontario, and a notable cell is heading towards chatham from the northwest. Its about 2-3h away but just recieved a tornado warning outside of saginaw michigan, doplar from detroit-pontiac shows some good rotation. the tip of southern ontario looks to be in the 2% tornado probablistic zone according to the SPC forcast.

Update: That particular cell is also showing 2.25in hail at the moment

Severe thunderstorm warning for
Sarnia - Petrolia - Western Lambton County issued

At 4:40 PM EDT, meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm with a history of producing large hail and damaging winds over Lower Michigan and tracking rapidly southeastward towards the northern shore area of Lake St Clair.

Communities in the path include: Walpole Island and Wallaceburg.

Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches.

Strong wind gusts and hail can damage property and cause injuries. Local downpours can cause flash floods.

Go indoors and move away from windows and skylights. Avoid areas of the building that could be affected by falling debris such as tree limbs. Stay on the lower floor of your home or building and if the storm is particularly severe go to the basement.

Avoid driving through water on roads. Even shallow fast moving water across a road can sweep a vehicle away.

Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes.

In Canada, lightning kills up to 10 people every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors.

im seeing two sites of rotation from the doplar imagery in that group of cells, one section is south west of florence and the other is the area that Dave Patrick is looking at over the northeast side of Lake St. Claire, nothing crazy but noticeable.

For about ten minutes there was a good hook going, now its dissipating.

A new cell with a consistent TVS at one point is looking to cross the lake soon.

Hey Anspray, did you get any pics of the first cell passing and how good a storm was it?? The second storm looks to have a nice downburst pushing out at the front of it plus a good hook currently hope there is not too much damage your way.

anspray, storm has shifted east, looks to be to your north stony point to lighthouse point will get a good gust o wind however

here's the radar for that one as it passed through

i still feel a little green looking for down bursts and intense gust fronts on radar but that's my take on it, arrows pointing to the outflow, the dotted line representing the updraft ahead of the front and the diamond indicating the point of rotation where the front is swinging on. anyone with more experience or weather knowledge feel free to correct me if i'm wrong :)
