Storm chaser Tim Samaras and crew killed in EF3 tornado
 

I remember Tim well from Discover Channel's 'Storm Chasers' TV show. He seemed like a genuinely nice guy that didn't have the ego that the leaders of other crews seemed to have. Very sad.

just got the confirmation from fb from Jim Samaras and Tony Laubach such a sad day for the community my thoughts are with the Samaras and Young families today

Through the grapevine I heard it was more of a motor vehicle accident and not from the tornado itself. Apparently another vehicle fleeing at high speed from the tornado ran in to them.

I've always said, the biggest danger to chasing storms is: TRAFFIC

Carl young was a friend of mine. I talked many time with him last friday. Just before he died. ','We'' (storm chasers Qc) (Chasseurs de tempêtes Qc) will probably do a memorial for them next week. Even a week after, I still feel the sadness and I want to dedicate my first tornado of 2013 in Moose Creek,Ontario to Carl Young. Because when he saw my video of last wednesday, he told me that: he tought it was more than a funnel cloud and to check for damages. I did it and he was right, it was on the ground !! I didn't have the time to thank him... ! ;) thank Carl @! RIP my friend !
