Updated weather summary for Southern Ontario and the
National Capital Region issued by Environment Canada
At 9:00 P.M. EDT Saturday 6 September 2014.

On Friday the 5th of September a warm southerly flow with high heat
and humidity was followed by a cold front that swept across Southern
Ontario. Numerous reports of severe weather due to strong
thunderstorms were received. In addition, an ef1 tornado was
confirmed east of Orillia.

Storm damage survey crews were sent out to assess the damage from
yesterday's storms. In Orillia, the damage was found to be
Consistent with a downburst having wind speeds in the range of 110
To 130 kilometres per hour. Just east of Orillia in the town of
udney, a barn, clubhouse and drive shed were all destroyed.
Assessment of the damage in udney revealed that it was caused by an
ef1 tornado.  Ef1 tornadoes have wind speeds between 135 and 175
kilometres per hour.  In the vicinity of six mile lake, damage
Was due to straight line winds with speeds in the range of 90 to 110
kilometres per hour. Investigators in the London area found straight
line wind damage with no evidence of a tornado. This bulletin will
Be updated with any significant damage reports.
